You were lucky. I've never seen a Waschbär outside a zoo. --Michael

Years ago we were camping near the Edersee and we were warned that there would be 'Waschbären' in the neighborhood. And later, in the middle of the night we had one 'bear' visiting our tent. The raccoon must have been looking looking for food. They look surprisingly big in the dark. That was quite an experience :)

The Edersee is a great attraction there. I think there is a tree-top walk nearby, too, but I didn't get there. --Michael
